A Modern View of The Role of Some Infectious Diseases in The Clinical Manifestation of Infectious and Psychiatric Pathologies, As Well As Psychological Disorders

Investigating the role of infectious diseases in psychopathology is crucial for understanding the etiology of psychiatric and psychological disorders. This article examines how various infectious diseases impact psychiatric disorders and the role infections play in the development of neuropsychiatric disorders. Studies show that autoimmune processes, such as poststreptococcal diseases, lupus erythematosus, and scleroderma, are primarily manifested through psychopathological symptoms. Severe infections of the central nervous system (CNS), such as encephalitis and meningitis, are known to cause brain damage, leading to long-term psychiatric and psychological symptoms. Studies show that accumulating evidence supports the idea that early life infections may play a role in the later development of mental disorders. Prenatal infections with herpes simplex virus, cytomegalovirus, rubella, and Toxoplasma gondii are examples of infections that can result in fetal neurodevelopmental abnormalities. In addition, numerous sources indicate that infections such as In conclusion, multidisciplinary studies are needed to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of infectious diseases on psychiatric and psychological disorders.
