Abstract

Purpose of the study. To study the organization of the psychiatric service in Azerbaijan and the prospects for its development. Material and research methods. Analysis of documents on mental health care in Azerbaijan and worldwide, the legal framework governing the legal status of mental disorders and other persons involved in mental health care. Results. Psychiatric care for the population should be provided in several directions: 1) highly qualified psychiatric care - inpatient psychiatric care; 2) specialized outpatient psychiatric care (neuropsychiatric (psychiatric) dispensaries); 3) psychiatrists in psychiatric offices of polyclinics; 4) doctors working in the primary health care system (field therapist and family doctor); 5) emergency psychiatric care. Conclusion. Mental health reforms have been identified as critical areas.
