The aim of our work was to study the correlation between morphometric indicators оf brain atrophy and clinical symptoms in multiple sclerosis (MS). 88 patients (58 women, 30 men) with MS aged 18 to 60 years were under observation. 56 patients had relapse-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), 32 patients had a secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) type of disease course. All patients underwent magnetic resonance imaging with voxel morphometry. Established that SPMS manifested by more pronounced degenerative changes. In RRMS, the sequence of involvement of individual brain structures in the degenerative process was determined: atrophy of the subcortical gray matter ( thalamus) is detected in the early stages of the development of the disease, then the cortex is involved with the defeat of the central gyrus, and lastly, the white matter of the brain.
