Based on a clinical and epidemiological study of temporal epilepsy among the population in the Mashtagi village of Baku, 73 patients with temporal epilepsy between the ages of 15 and 59 years were identified. It was established that symptomatic form 69 (94.5%) prevail cryptogenic ones - 2 (2.7%). Familial epilepsy of the temporal lobe identified in 2 (2.7%) patients. Left sided localization 51 (69.9%) prevailed over right sided 21 (28.8%). Leading etiological factors from temporal epilepsy were perinatal brain pathology 40 (54.47%) and traumatic brain injury 16 (21.9%). Cerebrovascular pathology and neuroinfection were observed in 9 (13.9%) and 2 (2.7%) cases, respectively. Mesial temporal sclerosis reveled in 4 (5.5%), multiple sclerosis - in 2 (2.7%) patients. Antiepileptic drug remission after therapy optimization from 6 months to 2 years reached in 46 (63.1%) patients. Prevalence rate of temporal epilepsy in the Mashtagi village amounted to 1.6 per 1000 of population: among native’s residents 1.1, non-natives - 4.3. In ethnic subpopulations it was to 1.5 per 1000 populations among pasients from kechan mehelle and 2 times lower than among patients from hunhar and seidler mehelle - to 0.7 per 1000 population respectively. Influence of ethnocultural features mehelle’s populations on development temporal epilepsy did not found.
