Abstract

The aim of the study. To achieve the complex characteristics of children with neonatal seizures on antenatal and intranatal factors. Materials and methods. 73 children with neonatal seizures have been observed. Children were divided into subgroups according to maternal age, birth order, abnormalities of antenatal and intranatal period, body weight, gestational age, agerelated causes of 4 clinical forms of seizures. Statistical processing is carried out by methods of analysis of qualitative characteristics. Results. Ages of mothers of children with neonatal seizures were <20–6.9±2.9%; 2024 years – 26.0±5.1%; 2529 years – 32.9±5.4%; 3034 years – 16.4±4.3%; 35 years and elder – 17.8±4.4%. The mothers had diabetes mellitus (1.4%), arterial hypertension (5.5%), anaemia (35.6%), preeclampsia and eclampsia (42.5%), infection (6.9%), premature placental abruption (9.6%), ancestral anomalies (8.2%). Gestational age at birth was <37 at 38.4±5.6% of patients, body mass <2500 gram at 42.5±5.7%. Conclusion. Most of mothers of children with neonatal seizures are younger than 25 years (65.8%) with first birth (53.4%). The most common antenatal and intranatal factors associated with anamnesis of children with neonatal seizures are preeclampsia and eclampsia (42.5%) and vaginal birth (74.0%). Boys prevail among children with neonatal seizures (61.6%) with gestation age on birth <37 weeks (61.6%). Main reason of neonatal seizures is hypoxia (43.8%), which are often debuted with focal and multifocal seizures (49.3%).
