Lerish Syndrome

This article describes in detail the features of development, pathogenesis, clinical picture, methods of diagnosis and treatment of Lerish's syndrome. The disease occurs mainly in middle-aged men and is characterized by an atherosclerotic lesion of the arteries of the lower extremities. The initial stage of the disease manifests itself in muscle weakness, pain in the calf muscles during walking, which subsequently leads to intermittent claudication. In neglected cases, trophic ulcers appear on the feet and fingers, then joins the gangrene of the foot. Treatment in the initial stages is conservative, in later terms is surgical intervention. When performing a reconstructive operation or adequate conservative treatment, all manifestations of Lerish syndrome disappear; there is an improvement in the patient's condition and restoration of work capacity.
