Abstract

The article presents the clinical and characteristics of nerve conduction studies and shows the indicators elemental balance 32 patients with polyneuropathy. The characteristic changes in elemental balance with reduced level of zinc, copper, chromium, manganese, selenium, iron, sulfur, and bromine in the hair by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. We describe the results of the correlation analysis of the clinical and neurophysiological parameters of nerve conduction studies, as well as indicators of altered elemental balance. According to the correlation analysis indicated that the trace elements are involved in the implementation of different pathogenetic mechanisms of disorders of the peripheral nervous system and influence appropriately to clinical and neurophysiological characteristics of patients with polyneuropathy. Reduced levels of trace elements such as zinc, copper, iron, and sulfur is most likely mediated by the effect on myelinopathy development and relevant clinical and neurophysiological features of this state, manganese deficiency and bromine affects development axonopathy, reducing the level of chromium and selenium adversely affected, as the state of the axon as myelin sheath in patients with polyneuropathy.
