Abstract

In order to assess the clinical and neuropsychological characteristics of cognitive disorders in arterial hypertension (AH), 112 patients were examined. The results showed that cognitive disorders are diagnosed in the vast majority of patients with hypertension - 82%, including patients with stages I, II and III of hypertensive encephalopathy (HE). The authors come to the conclusion that the severity of cognitive impairment correlates with the stage of HE and this reliably shows the involvement in the pathological process of hypertension of such an important “target organ” as the brain, which requires a lot of attention both in terms of diagnosis and treatment.
