Clinical and Neurological Features of Isolated and Complicated Chiari Malformation Type I

The review article, based on the analysis of modern literature data, presents symptoms, syndromes and symptom complexes of isolated Chiari malformation type I (MCI) and in combination with syringomyelia, scoliosis, hydrocephalus. It was concluded that the possession of such information for outpatient and hospital health care doctors will allow them to suspect a malformation and continue diagnosis at the level of neuroimaging. The critical importance of a detailed neurological status of the patient in determining the indications for conservative treatment or surgical intervention, choosing the technique and extent of the operation is also emphasized.
