Abstract

The aim of the study. Assessment of demographic and clinical characteristics of urgently hospitalized patients with stroke in Baku city. Materials and methods of the study. The group of urgently hospitalized patients with stroke in Baku city was formed by random selection (300 patients). Information about age, gender, education level, bad habits, concomitant pathologies, the type of stroke and the location of the affected areas of the brain was collected. The frequency of occurrence of individual signs of demographic and clinical characteristics of patients was detected. Achieved results. The ischemic stroke was diagnosed in 68.3±2.68% patients. The proportion of men and women was close (51.3±2.9% men, 48.7±2.9% women). The severe stroke according to NIHSS scale was detected in 44.8±2.9% hospitalized patients. 27.7±2.6% of patients continued to smoke at the moment of hospitalization. Conclusion. The main demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with stroke in the city of Baku are similar with patients in other places of residences. The expressed comorbidity is caused by arterial hypertension (83.3%), coronary heart disease (88.0±1.9%), diabetes mellitus (53.3±2.9%).
